FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL:Tall for a female Miqo'te, but short by comparison to most other races. Summer stands at around 5'3" but generally presents an ilm or two taller thanks to her preference for heeled shoes. Her hair is naturally red that fades into orange-gold at the tips, and her eyes are pale green and slitted. Her build is slight and lean but not muscular, not that it's generally easy to tell under the bulk of her robes.

FASHION:A hodgepodge of trophies she's earned, collected, or been gifted. Her most common color theme is black and red, and she favors long robes and coats with boots, fitted gloves, and minimalist jewelry.

AURAL:Contralto in pitch, with a tendency toward a dry drawl when speaking. Will purr or giggle when excited, will snarl when angry.

OLFACTORY:Sensitive noses will detect a near-perpetual aroma of firesmoke.

DEMEANOR:More of a realist than an idealist. Keenly attuned to power imbalances and tends to become defensive and protective on behalf of misfits and outcasts. Firmly believes you're never fully dressed for battle without a tank. Affectionate towards the Amalj'aa, Kobolds, Ixal, and Vath. Hates to have Her Things™ taken away. Thinks pouring blood into void portals is a totally normal thing to do. Enjoys the use of Firestarter perhaps a little bit too much.

HISTORY

The thing about being a Seeker of the Sun is that, when you tell someone your name, anyone even remotely familiar with Seeker naming conventions will immediately know what tribe you're from. Even if you would prefer they didn't. Especially if you would prefer they didn't.

Once upon a time, a female Seeker of the Sun and her closest childhood friend had a lot of problems with the state of the world around them. Coming from a fairly small tribe in Gyr Abania whose tendencies had always bent toward capitulation and compliance rather than resistance and defiance, said Seekers were forced to watch as living conditions grew worse and worse as the years went by, as the Garlean Empire expanded its foothold in their region, and the tribe gave ground rather than defending their native borders.

Such was the state of things, when the soldiers came and the day abruptly turned unlucky; you kept your head down and your mouth shut and complied. If they came for supplies, then they took supplies. If they came for conscripts, then you accepted that you might well never see the faces of the people they took again. If they came for death — well, you hoped they didn't come for death. You hoped it wasn't you.

Eventually, the Seeker and her friend got tired of hoping.

Convinced that a resistance could be successful if they were only to try, the Seeker and her companion first attempted a change of policy within the tribe itself by having said friend, a male Tia, challenge for the position of Nunh. Unfortunately, from the tribe's perspective, this bid was quickly seen for what it was: a foolhardy, reckless notion dreamed up by two frustrated young adults not particularly good at thinking their plans through. Unsurprisingly, the attempt failed and left the budding rebels mostly in youthful disgrace.

Unfortunately, from their perspective, that just meant they'd have to try more...unorthodox solutions.

After a span of time and a number of unworkable ideas, the two Seekers came up with a potentially tenable, albeit reckless, idea: if the beast tribes could call upon their gods to defend them in their hours of need, why couldn't a tribe of Seekers? Why not them? If no one else would be a warden against Garlean intrusion, then why not Azeyma herself?

But of course, one major obstacle to this plan stood in their way, and it was the pure and simple fact that attempting a primal summoning necessitated a hefty number of crystals, and two nobody Seeker kids from a tribe in the middle of nowhere couldn't possibly come up with the resources to acquire them on their own.

And so it became the female's turn to step up and seek to advance their goals. While her male friend remained at home to keep tabs on the situation within the tribe, the female would travel to Ul'dah and seek a position within the Thaumaturges Guild, hoping to find a rich benefactor with the resources to finance their crystal dreams, or possibly just to embezzle the wealth outright from the Guild's coffers. To protect the tribe, and to ensure that no part of her actions could be traced back to her origins, the female abandoned her tribal name and became the far more culturally-ambiguous Summer Icarian.

Upon her arrival in Ul'dah, and meeting with Momodi, Summer was directed to the Thaumaturges Guild, where she boldly and confidently walked right in and headed for the receptionist to inquire about employment with the guild. Naturally, she answered "yes" when asked if she had come to join; what else was she going to say, "no"?

It wasn't until later — after she had been directed to the guildmaster Cocobuki, had a staff shoved into her hand, and told to go practice her budding dark arts on the adorable woodland creatures outside the gates of Ul'dah — that it occurred to Summer that this wasn't just the most bizarre job interview she'd ever undertaken.

(In her defense, it was Ul'dah; who knew what kind of things rich city people considered normal, anyway?)

But with the staff and the guild came power — not from a bow, not from fang and claw, not from Garlean might or Seeker gods — but solely from within herself. Power that could be channeled into fire and ice and lightning. Power that could be cultivated. Power that meant she could finally, finally taste a solution to conflict that wasn't simply caving and conceding. And so she devoted herself to its study, exploring the arcane mysteries of thaumaturgy and acclimating to life in Ul'dah until one day, she was enlisted to help find a young runaway noblewoman named Lilira, and encountered a Handsome Stranger™ with sarcastic opinions about her activities...

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Her real name is X'asti Moro; her father's name is X'moro Nunh, and her best friend's name is X'niko Tia.
